Hey Hank I still think it is worthless cause you can keep track of who died in your head from that kill indicator, so all it does is either require you to memorize or it makes you not care and think your done for, if your only one left.
I personally can't do that, although I see your point. Time well tell if I truly like it or not, I'm just saying it's added a little more tension, uncertainty, and dare I say it realism into the game.

Steam makes it difficult, but I'll release the helper.cfg by itself shortly.

It would be much appreciated. I don't realise how spoiled they've made me until I'm left without them.

Is there much you've had to do to accomodate 1.6, outside of adding the new gear? Any fundamental changes in the way scripting works?

This thread is relevent to an idea I'd like to run by the community.

I have several years experience in Perl and web servers, and have plenty of bandwidth available to me (sorry not enough to help the Steam effort, believe me I would.) I've spent the last few years working on Bug Tracking systems of my own design.

I considered the idea of a site where anyone can submit bugs on any product. The objective would be to create a clearinghouse of bugs for, say, CS. Users could report bugs or simply "vote up" existing bugs if their bug has already been reported. Anyone could see the information. The developers of, say, CS, would hopefully use the system to see the top bugs being reported by users.

The community is always willing to help beta test a game and submit bug reports. Unfortunately they have to be manually parsed by someone at the dev team, duplicates checked, etc. Important projects (cs) could have Moderators whose responsibility would be to detect duplicates, and reduce bugs to their simplest test case for easy reproducability by the developers.

So, rather than the community effort ending at finding a bug and emailing it, we could actually work a little harder to create a normalized database of bugs for the developers.

It would also be a place for folks to voice their opinion on the severity of a bug.

Very few development houses publish their bug database for contribution by the public. However, virtually all (good) development teams use some sort of bug tracking system. The public beta testing community doesn't have one.

Whaddy'all think? Emails to erik at erik dot LA would be appreciated on the topic.

» The program doesn't work 90% of the time, so there isn't a huge point in downloading it. A lot of players are patient (read: social experiment failures) and have waited hours to play the game for a bit.

Hey Rizzuh i downloaded the game and started playing it in under an hour :)
