No kidding. Consider this:



For the sake of argument, let's say CS causes violence. Consider how many people worldwide play CS every day and how much time, on average, they spend doing it. If CS causes violence wouldn't this kind of scene repeat itself much more? It may be true that the violence CS *may* cause could manifest itself in other ways, but people get pissed over many games, computer or normal, every day. I've known people to get REALLY pissed over games of Magic: The Gathering, and I've seen grown adults act like schoolyard kids over games of Warhammer 40K. I should know, I've done both, and there have been times in CS when I've left the game angry because I was playing poorly.



I maintain that the problem is not with games but with some gamers. Unfortunately there are people who take the game so seriously that it really isn't a game to them anymore and it actually holds serious value to them, enough value that someone's pride outweighs a human life. Personally, it saddens me that some people are so empty that they need to find self-worth in video games. I would hope that more of you, instead of viciously condemning the murderers, would look past their crime and try to see what drove them to it.

In 2001, there were roughly 260 gun homicides in Canada. There were approximately that many stabbings as well, and 210 fatal beatings. They have been cracking down on the guns, but here in Canada, they may as well register the baseball bats and knives as well because their numbers are about the same. Our gun control is pretty ineffective.



I'll admit, the car/game analogy is pretty good, but it doesn't work for a car and a gun, because the car isn't intended to be used to kill. I just don't understand why people think they need a gun to be safe.

Counter-Strike did not cause this problem, the people that think they need to kill because they are losing are the cause of this problem. The only reason that the press is jumping all over CS instead of people is that its a lot easier to criticize an inanimate object than a human or the way a society thinks.

Another stupid comment by the all too many morons that inhabit this earth. You're trying to justify what happened by saying "he shouldn't be a fag in cs" That is totally beside the point you dumb ass. How stupid can people be? It is a fucking game if someone is being "gay" as you immature illiterate dumb asses like to use too often, leave. The fact that some people are trying to justify what the criminal did because the victim was bragging about a video game is fucking retarded. Call me crazy but a persons life is a little more valuable then you having a good time playing a game.

And as for reasons, I honestly don't think it's CS, as for why, well, it's all been talked about before why it couldn't be. Anyways, what I wanted to add is that, it might not be the parents as much as a matter of "pride" as in, the kid got owned in the game of CS. The person who did the owning gloats, he says FU, it's returned and escalates. And so he ends up getting into a fight, why? Because he has to "look cool" in front of his friends. If you read the article again, it says three kids assaulted Mr. Kwee (the victim) not just one. And when they left and came back, it was still a small group, not just one. So maybe the guy who said "FU" was trying to retain his "coolness" in front of his friends.



All another reason of why childish pride is so pathetic. Oh, and for those wondering why they took the computers, like I said, matter of "pride" so whoever said "FU" to Mr. Kwee is likely the one most hurt and most likely to have killed him. And also, something in the conversation might hint at a previous incident between the two groups.
