VAC Update

My server (Linux) received de update without problems. No need to restart. Got 3.1.1.0a patch installed. Works for me. Yay!

By the way, folks, you might want to read my site for some information on the VAC and HLamp. Valve will not be fixing the problems with HLamp. I believe that the new modules may detect HLamp, so I would not reinstall it.

GG Vac for trying to allow us to use great stuff like HLamp, but I guess it can't always work the way we want it to. NT Disk2, your plugin was teh h4x0r!!111



Ahem. Anyway, I noticed that on a certain site where cheats are freely distributed, after the last update to vac the list of "VAC-Proof" cheats went from upwards of 20 to less than five. I hope this one eliminates the others.

I don't understand people that flame VAC.. You should blame the cheatmakers, they are the cause of this all, not Valve.. Although you could blame Valve somewhat for not making the engine cheatresistent enough back in 1998 (lets hope Valve learned their lesson for HL2).. But atleast they are doing something now with VAC..



You have to see it as a war on cheats.. And wars are messy, innocent people get affected etc.. The war has to go on until all cheats are eliminated, there's no other way..



To try and make sure you're not affected by this war just don't use any 3rd party programs that hook themselfs to HL/CS.. Everybody should know by now you risk getting detected by VAC.. You simply cannot expect Valve to make VAC compatible with all the plugins outthere, and asfar as I know they fixed all false positives involving hardware issues etc.. I think VAC simply has to detect certain plugins to get to certain cheats etc.. I've been playing CS since the very early days and never used any fancy plugins etc (only use ASE as serverbrowser), so never had any problem with VAC or any other anti-cheat.. I'm still on the same old HL CD-key from january 1999..

I just hope it doesn't start looking for custom skins. I got a lot of great weapon and player skins from here and other sites that I love. I know that in 1.7 it will be harder to use custom skins due to steam, but man - I don't want to get banned just cuz I want the game to look cooler.
