What I want to know is why CS Crossfire was never resurrected? I think it would continue to provide an environment for moderated rage (similar to here) but more essay oriented. As I'm sure you can tell, I spend more time thinking about CS strategy than actually playing. . .

iceworld is a good practice map for basic CS skills. using the "walk" key, listening to footsteps. dropping/switching guns. trying out all the guns you can't afford/buy. HE grenades are deadly in such a small area and flashbags are easy use as well. most "real" maps have a choke point where the action is very much like a game of iceworld. people don't get all pissy when they die because they will spawn again in a few moments and are more likely to stick around.



i prefer to play objective based maps that have a cool theme: like the new de_747 or cs_bigwong, but they don't attract noobs and are too big to download from a server.



scoutzknivez seems to be the best fly-paper map these days.

any one like mindmaze? a cool map with lots of levels and ramps. it's a deathmatch but it has lots of tactical potential.

TACTICS, yea IceWorld has tactics: Don't die easy, take some with you and call thier mamma names........But you half to admit there's something special when you hear that Cs voice say: *Ma, ma, ma MONSTER KILL, Kill, kill, kill............IceWorld, not for the faint of heart or the weak kneed........Lock and load.......

You know what I find funny about all these people who hate Iceworld and say that it has no strategy. I have to laugh because CS as a whole does not require a lot of strategy. I also play games such as America's Army, Ghost Recon, etc. and those games make CS look like Iceworld does to normal CS players. So if you really want to play strategy, play a real strategy shooter that requires a lot more skill than CS does.

fy_iceworld is fine for the ocasional no brainer.



Its also a good practise map. For those who need to practise with the jumps, grenade spamming, gun aiming and shooting etc. This is perfect.



But playing it 24/7 suxs though.

fy_iceworld is possibly the gayest map in counter-strike to this day , although alot of people like the idea of being on CT/T an being able to pick up a CT/T gun whenever you want w/ out takin the time to kill people an have to buy them ... i think its just a waste of time - what ever happnd to earn your weapons and earn your kills , i judt think that if your CT - you should have to own a T to get his AK , not take 3 steps to the left an pick it up at your spawn because its free :-\

this is why u get people screaming about the AWM, they think it's cheap only because they have not mastered it enough to become proficient with it. they don't understand the abilities and the downfalls of the gun.



sounds to me like that is the EXACT reason the majority of comments on this thread are bashing iceworld. because those of you that can't kill, that can't run around a corner with a M3 and take out several enemies and live to the next round need a place to vent. iceworld is a great map to train reflexes, aim at close range, and to practice your strafing skills. and it's also a great place to master the AWM. it forces you to learn the importance of walking if u happen to be one the last people standing. the pace of the map keeps you on your toes no matter what gun u are holding and it also helps keep people interested in the game.



but bitching about the 'ruining' of CS is absurd. you think because you can't keep a positive score on 1 map that it has defeated the purpose of the game? stay in la la land is all i have to say to you.

Oh yes we are all so sad about not getting a good score on fy_iceworld. It reminds me of the time when I sued all manufacturers and distributors of the rubix cube.

You people are just finding out that the CS community is dead? It was dead LONG ago... examples? Vehicles, gone... Escape, GONE... why? cause of stupid lamers that A.) didnt play the game right... and B.) complained because they couldnt Deathmatch with new guns as well with these two options (and often choose to vent their frustration with lamer tactics)



DO YOU HAVE ANY CLUE HOW MANY COPIES OF CS RETAIL WERE SOLD???



THAT my friend, is what killed the community. I am here for the socialising (i have lots of friends that play) and clan play (ignorant jackasses are usually not allowed in clans) other then that... CS is dead... i have moved on to DoD and (more then DoD) Natural Selection... but i would like to keep those a secret before the virus that is the CS community infects those. Natural Selection is slowly eradicating the vile growth that spawned from this community and almost took over NS... but the NS public toughed it out, and with persistant Admins, and the fact that NS is a purely teamplay mod with no DM chance at all, we managed to amputate that... THING.



Natural selection rounds last generally longer then the amount of time a single map is played in CS... people build expiriences with each other... they form friendships, All the players care deeply towards the cause (if not at the start) by the end of the game... something that the mindnumbing gameplay of CS will never offer



You know how many 5 year old high pitched voices scream in my ear on NS? ZERO...



You know how tightly knitted and devoted the NS public is? It kind of reminds me of the Beta 3 days of CS... DO THE DEVELOPERS EVEN GO TO THE SUGGESTION FORUMS???? DO THE ORIGINAL DEVELOPERS EVEN WORK ON THIS MOD ANYMORE? i am not sure... but every CS forum over on counter-strike.net is 10 times worse then the OT over at the natural selection website... Flayra has RESPONDED in the suggestion forum!!! yes he has! go check... wait dont, your mindless drones will again try to populate our pure and holy servers. The developers has, and will continue to touch base with the community with regularity.



You know how few cheaters there are in NS? VERY... VERY few



The final and only fact that remains... The massed public killed CS, it in effect, killed itself with it's own popularity...
