All true... but you didn't mention why, so I'll seize this opportunity to make myself look like an ass by nitpicking trivial inaccuracies. For those who don't know, the SIG P228 is 9mm only, but in CS it is chambered for .357 SIG. The P229 is nearly identical cosmetically to the P228 (except the cocking serrations are only half the height as the ones on the 228), but was beefed up in the slide to accept chamberings for the .40 S&W and .357 SIG (which is just a necked down .40 anyway).

The difference between the Berettas is also because of caliber. A Beretta 96G is chambered for .40 S&W, while the one in CS is a 9mm and is therefore really a 92G.

        [/nitpicky gun rant]

ive found that dod more accurately shows that if you shoot someone they will die. not like in cs where it takes maybe 12 bullets to the chest to drop someone
Most soldiers in WWII weren't wearing kevlar vests. Think maybe that has some sort of an effect? Hmm? I'm not claiming that CS is totally real or whatever, but in theory your glock would only give massive bruises and perhaps fractured bones when fired into the chest of an opponent, likely doing no life-threatening damage. In DoD, however, you can expect the similarly chambered 9mm Luger to take out enemies fairly quickly.

ps: Did you know that silencer actually increases your accuracy and takes away a lot of power? And the strategy guides say it loses a bit of power and loses accuracy. Another fact CS guns aren't totally realistic
The silencer affects accuracy and power, but I would absolutely love to see you try to prove that it makes the gun more accurate. The code for recoil is different in the two cases, but it's foolish to claim that one is "more" accurate than the other. As far as power, it's only a difference of 2-3 hp per .223 bullet most of the time. That sounds like a "bit" rather than a "lot" as you claim.

anyways, every gun on cs is wrong in some form or another. ejector ports on the wrong side, cocking/charging the weapon everytime it draws, slides of pistols locking back everytime u reload, unlimited reloading of ammo, the knife, jumping, the need to buy ur weapon [for the cts at least], even ur speed. the list goes on.
Some of these simply make the game more fun, others are limitations. The flaws in the animation system are partly limitations of Half-Life, though theoretically you could get around them with a few extra events. Mostly, though, it's just to make it look cool.

Yep, I guess I'm not the only one who notices these sorts of things.

Anyway, what I find amusing is that some people bitch endlessly when a gun doesn't act quite as they think it should in CS, then turn around and watch a single UMP45 spit out hundreds of bullets with no reloads in The Matrix Reloaded" without question. Insert a similar example (from practically any action movie) here. The point, in both cases, is about fun over realism.

Anyway, nice idea for an article, even if having English as a second language is hurting the writing a bit, and making it somewhat difficult to understand in places. Hopefully boomtown can get an editor for these things.

Hehe i noticed that about the ump in the matrix as well, altho it kinda ruins the coolness of a movie everytime i count the number of bullets fired b4 a reload... Did u know that most movie 6 shooters have 20+ bullets in them :|

                Fuel to the fire:

One item to point out, and it's just trivia (trivial?) The AWM/AWP acronym stands for "*A*ccuracy International *W*eapon System *M*agnum or *P*olice." The term Arctic Warfare came from the British Special Forces use of the weapon, which was featured with a winter setting, but is not the name of the rifle.

The Magnum uses a long action in .338 lapmag and .300 Winmag, and the Police--a short action, in .243 Win and .308 Win. There is also an AW50, in .50 BMG.

There is also an AICS, or "*A*ccuracy *I*international *C*hassis *S*ystem" which is just the stock and box magazine for a Remington 700 PSS action and barrel.

the Ump in the matrix was almost as useless in the movie as it is in CS: it's great for shooting boxes, cars, chickens whatever, not so good on enemy targets.

the Glock Morpheus had was sweet. too bad the CS version's not full auto with the 30 round clip like his was.

i liked how the big car chase was a Cadillac duel: nice product placement for GM.

yo Trevize do you think having been trained by the military make you better at cs? my mom heard about ex-seals kickin ass in some fps, and i have a hypothesis that there is a deeper level of tactics that most people dont realize/understand. i am also slowly starting to bring everything i have learned together in what hopefully will eventually be a fairly comprehensive guide. any thoughts?
having had some training my self, i can tell you not overly so. CS is a GAME and in so far as tactical awareness, repetittion, intelligence, calmness under fire, reflexes, repetittion, and cuning (repetition)make you a good warrior, period, then some degree of benefit can be derived form having had military training. Essentially the only way to get better.. is to have more and more practice, practice, makes perfect. (repåetition) If u learn the maps, and every situation that arisees from it, then all that remains (sweeping statement flame away, i mean basically)are your individual reaction times, thne its down tot he quicker player. Thats why you are alwasy left with that i could have had him feeling, yes, you could, if u were quicker.

To be completely honest, Vietcong is rocking my universe currently, REalism, and simulation in military games, particularly, multiplayer games, lead to genuine campathons, why, BECAUSE Realistically, u get shot u hurt like hell and arent gonna run around cahsing frags or defusing bombs. So u stay in cover move very carefully, and coordinatedly, lay on the floor ffs, aim and shoot. I hope cs2 has a team dm mode for all the fraggers, n they jack up the realism a bit. in objective mode, that way, they can increase the size of the community, embracing all the differeing ideas, and screw all o you, give ME waht I want for the game.,

He hasn't really gone into any detail though. He's only pointing out the obvious. In reality CS would be no fun, we all know gooseman knows very little about real guns but then neither do I so I'm not really bothered.

My only problem with CS weapons is that they are neither realistic or balanced just somewhere in between. I'd rather have one of the other not some random thing because some arseholes on the CS forums bitched about how this gun or that gun has ruined CS so then it has to get nerfed.

yeah i played the demo and it was pretty fun, the only thing i didnt like was the limited battlefield. you should try operation flashpoint (ofp), there is a vietnam addon that gives tons of vehicles, weapons, etc. and an island a couple miles across. very realistic game, it just isnt too good with cqb. there is even a special edition for military/police training (i would love to get my hands on that).
