I always wondered why your viewpoint in CS came from your chest and not your head but it doesn't, it comes from the barrel of your gun.

    Don't mind me....

The FPS boost with r_drawviewmodel 0 isn't the only thing (besides being able to see more than with it visible). I've tested this myself and with r_drawviewmodel 0 there comes this sense of fearlessness inside of me... Call me retarded or whatever you like, but if you try playing with r_drawviewmodel 0 it impacts your mind in that you don't know what gun you have.. you don't know how powerful your shot is going to be unless you actually concentrate on the gun you have. All you have to do is let your instinct take over and that part of your mind which is devoted to counter-strike will know whether you should burst, to scope (or no scope in a lot of cases), to continue clicking if you have a usp/deagle..

Its all a psyche thing, sort of like being in the zone. You know you're there and nothing can break you, and to be honest r_drawviewmodel 0, for me at least, brings me to there instantly. I aim, I shoot, I watch chaos ensue, then rinse and repeat. Its sort of like every gun is your own little awp and all you have to do is shoot thrice times and.. I am rambling.

Its a psyche thing, you should all try it in a pub (or scrim if you arent playing in a WWCL server whree its enforced). I warn you though, don't get addicted, its scary how badly you want not to see the gun. I used it a few times in pubs where I got addicted to it for a few days, but I knew soon I'd be playing in matches so its better to not use it heh.

About the cl_bobcycle.. funny thing, friend made a video of him having fun with admins on this server I regular and I guess he forget to set it to default value because it was there in the movie. Couldn't put my finger on what felt weird in the video at first till someone pointed it out to me (Fug :P)

people are making a big deal out of nothing in my mind,

let shock keep the win, 1 week suspension of kspro.

so what if its the rules? you think coaches in the ncaa dont break rules? sure they do and they bend em and as soon as its found out a big deal is made for 2 weeks <as long as it is not a major deal, and usually with a major college>, people remember it aint that big of a deal, and the coach gets a slap on the wrist and a fine.

does this mean every game the coach coached should be overturned? nope....

        /me slaps kspros wrist

        !

I'm pretty sure that your post was pretty much directed to me as I was the only one that mentioned not drawing the model makes the game look better I think. You fail to grasp my point I made so let me elaborate. At CPL winter they played with the graphic settings turned to their highest for UT2003 though at other tournaments turning down the graphics tremendously and adding colored models was fine. A small thing like showing your model is more of a graphics tweak than an advantage. If CAL/CPL didn't have that rule I'm sure several cal-i would still have drawmodel on because it's what they're used to. It isn't like Counter-Strike has a redeemer in it that blocks your view as you fight on tiered maps. I can't think of times where I've ever been like, "Dammit, if only I didn't have this usp blocking my view!". Knowing how to tweak your netcode properly is more of an advantage than something like showing a model. Knowing how to do it takes several commands and you have to read about it. It's not as simple as a visual on off variable. To sum it up, you are incorrect.
Except this isn't the CPL, you idiotic horse molestor. Comparing it to the CPL is pointless and stupid, much like everything else you've said on this site in an attempt to prove me wrong. UT2k3 CAL has never required pumped up visuals. So what if they require it in CPL? It has nothing to do with CAL.

While I understand your stupid argument, it is stupid and not worth considering. Angel Munoz is not thinking to himself, "Holy hell in Christ's kitchen, what if CNN films Ksharp while he's playing a CAL-i match???? Frank, order drawviewmodel to 1!"

An example of a weapon that can block a significant portion of your screen is the M3 Super 90. Whether or not you think this is valid is irrelevant. The fact is the rule exists and likely for a reason; completely making up a reason (and in the process relating two separate games in two separate leagues with two separate rulings) is mindless and is in the usual Gpig-the-stupid-moron fashion. Shut up, jackass.

              LMAO AGREED WITH DirtyDevil, PWNED

              also

              about the update #2 thing...
Update #2: There are claims that in the latest version of WWCL, cl_bob 0 isn't even blocked. This line, however, appears in the CAL WWCL config: wwclconfig_check "cl_bob" "0.01". It's not clear at this point whether a) the server was even running WWCL, b) cl_bob is not allowed in CAL play, or c) WWCL was intentionally.
he said he used r_drawviewmodel not cl_bob. meaning that shit's irrelevant, unless of course he lied.

also, i think there should be a timestamp on the updates.

comment #7- Wow, and 9/10 players used hacks before. Isn't the penalty ban from vac? If 9/10 people were ban'd from counter-strike there would be almost no one to play with. My point is, give them a chance. I bet you have tried hacks before (anyone out there) how would you feel if suddenly you couldn't play. This is just a game! BTW: Stop calling him "nub" and shit. He is obviously better than you if he's cal and your not. :P

BTW: I always try to comment last cuz nubs in the middle of the long list of comments i bet no one will read your comments.

I read all of the comments. :)

If people knew they would get banned they wouldn't even try the hacks and if most people weren't using the hacks many of them probably wouldn't even get written. Most of the people I've talked to who have left Counter-Strike say they left because there were too many hackers. So the hackers would be banned and the people who can't stand them would still be playing I don't see where the problem is. Also, upon hearing that CS is some sort of "hacker free zone" people who have never played CS would probably go and buy it and we would keep the new players coming to replace the banned hackers.

                        Question;

Does any of these variables actually affect gameplay mechanics ingame, and not in the head?

setting cl_bobcycle to 0 effectively doubles the height of your eyes, allowing you to see things that you would see if you were standing while ducking.

It isn't more of a graphical tweak in the sense of right handed, left handed, and showing no model. If it ever infact did block your view and you considered it a problem you could easily change hands from right to left but I haven't seen a config that had binds to do so which would lead you to believe nobody considers it a big enough problem to have keys dedicated to it. Surely a cal-i player, a league with players that have it every key bound to change the color of the crosshair, would have some that find it necessary to bind keys to switch to right or left handed models.

"The fact is the rule exists and likely for a reason; completely making up a reason (and in the process relating two separate games in two separate leagues with two separate rulings) is mindless"

This is by far the stupidest part so I quoted it again. So you admit it exists and "likely" for a reason. Then you say that suggesting a reason for it is preposterous while in a previous post you called my suggestion invalid while making a suggestion of your own. How can you say that suggesting a reason is stupid when you declare one yourself?

The reason I used UT2K3 CPL as an example is because it is a very good example. CAL exists for CPL. UT2K3 CPL shares some settings as CS CPL. None of the graphics are toned down for CS CPL. You can't use low poly models or something like that. CAL exists for CPL. I say it again because CAL is merely just practice for the big CPL events so some of the settings could be forced that way for the reason of graphics mirroring CPL. CAL could release special low poly models that are allowed for online play but not CPL if they wanted to let lower end machines run CS better.

Your posts are intended to pique some people into flaming you. My post wasn't mindless flaming but merely a response to your post that piqued me. If there's anything I forgot I'm sure you'll point it out. Oh and btw:

So because the CPL has mandatory settings for UT which they do not use in CAL, the mandatory setting for CS is used in CAL for the same reason that it is used in the CPL which is for the same reason that the UT settings are used even though they aren't used in CAL but it's for the exact same reason.

Boy, your argument sure makes a lot of sense, bucko.

The CPL settings in UT2k3 are not used for CAL. The CPL setting for CS is used for CAL. How can you possibly believe that they are similar situations when they have exact opposite results?

Turning off the view model is not a god damn frame booster. CAL-i players use low resolutions and usually have powerful PC's. The issue is not frames. Why people disable view models, and why they have disabled then since the days of quake, is to gain an advantage. No matter how small you think it is, it is plainly obvious that freeing up part of the screen gives you more screen room compared to not freeing it up.

You can't even edit picmic at the CPL. Why, oh wise one, isn't that disabled since it is obviously a much bigger graphical tweak?
