That's not an equal comparison as the judicial system is much more complex in the way that the Jewel Thief and Serial Killer are tried by a jury. The human factor.

In this case, the rule is set, the rule is broken, the appropriate actions as set by the rules are taken. No judge, no jury, just the rules.
CAL admins are people and are judges and the jury. There's no rule saying, "Hey if you happen to use cl_bob 0 or r_drawviewmodel 0 or if you bypass WWCL then your team automatically loses. This is a rule that cannot be changed at all as it is set in stone. Also, this rule defines all the actions possible."

A computer isn't deciding this; what are you talking about?

Cheating is cheating, har har. Just like coloured models aren't allowed.

I think that it should be reviewed. He used it, yeah, but did it affect his performance in any way? Did he play better because of this? I'd like to see evidence of that before they decide to DQ shock.

If MikeJ's quote is straight out of the rule book (which I assume it is) then the ambiguity and controversy is built right in. It only says "may" and "up to." This in no way calls for automatic forfeit for the entire team. I'll be interested to see what CAL does with this one. It's too bad for kSpro's teammates if they're all punished. I suppose a rematch sans kSpro would be too much of a pain?

That's cl_bobycle not cl_bob. cl_bob makes barely any difference at all to me. In fact I can't even notice a difference unless I am using zoomed sniper rifle.

But if he changed cvars that don't really make much difference, what else did he change? I'm not sure what cvars get recorded in the demos.

Think I'll open this demo in notepad and have a look. :)

I think if CAL lets this off with a slap on the wrist they are letting some integrity slip away. The 3D postponement match last season was different because A.) it wasn't an in game offense, which would have a harsher punishment B.) it was in CAL's best interest to allow 3D to get publicity for the CPL and esports scene in general on national TV.

The match should at least be re played.

I think kSpro should be suspended from the playoffs but the win should not be overturned. cl_bob, as long as he didn't use bobcycle hax, isn't exactly on the level of true cheating. drawviewmodel? all that might gain him is a few frames per second. I don't feel that these cvars had enough impact on the match, i.e., if he was not using them, I don't feel shockwave would have lost.

cl_bob 0 prevents your gun from swaying when you run.

r_drawviewmodel 0 changes whether or not your gun is shown. 0 (off) will display no gun.
I see the minor advantages in this. Do CD, VAC, and other cheat detection methods look for these infractions? E-mail me if you feel the answer is too sensitive for the public.

If Valve didn't want these client variables useable they wouldn't put them in their game. WWCL config checker does check for them though. It is illegal in cal because it allows you to see more on your screen then you would be able to if your gun was blocking your view or bobbing up and down. The only reason it's in CS i imagine is for really sluggy computers that need that +3fps boost.

Rules are rules. You can't simply make exceptions.

Of course not, all they do is cl_bob may allow you to see a teeny bit more, but the drawviewmodel would show alot more of the "hidden screen" but it would make me, personally, play alot worse because I cant see my gun.

Whatever, just replay the match and suspend kspro. That way someone is punished, and you won't have ugly forfeit win, I mean, if Shock lost kS, don't you think they'd be weakened and TEC would win, anyways? 13-11 definite chance of win looks better than 13-0 forfeit any day =O.

I like to turn off alot of the HUD sometimes in games for fun. I liked Rogue Spear's lack of a gun and how you could with a press of the button lower or raise the amount of stuff displayed. I liked the mode with the radar and the window saying how many bullets you have left with like nothing else on screen. It just looked cooler. I also did it in tribes from time to time. In both cases it made the game more serene somehow. It was probably because I didn't have as much info I was checking or something.

However drawing the guns is something the leagues want and it does make sense so that the settings aren't tweaked to make the game look like total crap in competitions.
