rizzuh wrote..Unless I'm mistaken, Thief has many, and I'm probably stupid, isn't it a SP game?
Max Payne is just about the only single player game that has had some mods floating around it for a while...
Besides that, keep up the great CPs.

CS offers gamers a 24/7 public forum for displays of skill or stupidity, honor or backstabbing, leadership or solo glory hunting, and always at the end of the tunnel, respect and triumph dangles like a carrot on a string, rarely rewarded - briefly felt - but endlessly addictive.
DocUK wrote..Funny how I was going to come down here to the comments section and say how I didn't like the last analogy.
I liked the final analogy about watching a good movie alone or an OK one with friends. Summed up the whole multiplayer experience very well.
Quote:For some reason multiplayer is easily dominated by amateurs and single player is dominated by professionals. Is it so hard to comprehend, really? I'd rather watch an OK movie with some friends than a great one all alone.

Well we all know what Sim City is. It's a game where you build a fake community. Get it yet? Blame rizzuh, not me.

I would rather watch a good movie with my friends then an ok one.
Simplex wrote..I think it goes deeper than that. Fact is that some producers do not even try to make a 'proper' multiplayer game. I use inverted commas because the definition may vary, but I think the general accepted use also involves community. Thus we are back at the beginning, which is what makes this topic and this Counter-Point issue a great one.
You are saying that Counter-Strike is an OK movie, and that HL single-player is a great movie.
DocUK wrote..So why is it that "multiplayer is easily dominated by amateurs and single player is dominated by professionals"? I still don't understand why the fact that rizzuh would "rather watch an OK movie with some friends than a great one all alone" exemplifies anything besides that rizzuh likes to make fun of B movies with his buddies ala MST3K.

Doodleman3 wrote..My thoughts exactly.

....I'd really like to see natural selection with HL2 graphics. So true, so very true. Natural Selection has the community CS lost IMO. Alone the fact that they realized individual scores shouldnt be showed. Now if they'd just get a decent tech tree, one NS game is exactly like the last nowadays.
asspennies wrote..I hope it's not the mod team that feels inclined to release 50 betas instead of just one perfectly fine version. I don't want to play through Half-Life singleplayer 50 times with the first few being unplayable and slowly getting better. They should just release it once then release like one or two patches after that(or maybe tweaks).
I can't wait to see the group who decides to translate Valve's entire single-player from Half-Life into the HL2 engine.
You know it will happen. Just thinking about redoing that whole campaign...yowza. That will take a LOT of time. And a lot of patience to do right.
