Anyway, obviously CS2 is the honest choice if we're talking about completed, final versions (and the logistics, ie, other people have it for us to play against, our computers handle it just fine, etc). Most people who didn't choose CS2 probably haven't kept up to date on the tiny amount of hype. Given what HL2 is looking like, I'm sure a 30 second clip from CS2 would be enough to make nearly anyone forget completely about CS1.6 or CS:CZ as drool overcame them.

When HL2 comes out (or probs already) they're gonna make CS, for HL2.

Counter-Strike 2 is the sequel to Counter-Strike it's being built on the Half-Life 2 Source engine by Gooseman, the same guy who created the original C.S. he's working on it at valve software right now. C.S. 2 probably won't be released for like 2 years or something though, unless they release a public Beta as a mod for H.L. 2 like we are all hoping but even then it will still probably be at least a year until we see any kind of release. Hopefully we will be getting some media in the next 6 to 8 months though because I would really like to see that, but they aren't going to release anything like that until after Condition Zero has been in stores for a while as Valve doesn't want to kill there own product.

We all know whats going to be in 1.6, but the mysteries that CS2 holds are far to exciting for alot of people to handle. Not to mention the HL2 graphics on CS2 are going to kick ass like none other multi-player game I know. People say that graphics dont matter, which is espically true for such a great game as Max Payne, but just seeing those kick ass graphics the new HL2 engine beholds makes CS2 all the more greater to be giddy about.
