I used ESDF for movement

Shift walks (from the good ol days of DooM and Duke3D)

C crouches

Space and Capslock are Turnleft/Right (can use low sensitivity and still round corners fast as hell)

U is use

R reload

Mwheeldown is adjustcrosshair

mwheelup is inventory

m1 is fire

v is secondary

m2 is jump

Mines an easy WASD...simply because my first first-person shooter was Half-Life. I did use a config similar to that of Quake 2 at one point though.

No way! I didn't think anyone else did that. I've been doing it that way since Doom (they were the default strafe buttons). I use the forward and back arrow keys to move, well, forward and back.

I use the patented and trademarked DaveJ config, SZXC:



Mouse2: +forward

S: +back

Z: +moveleft

X: +moveright

C: +duck

Space: +jump

Shift: +speed



Makes perfect sense, then I mix it with sensitivity 7, and have:



Alt & Mouse3: +attack2

Ctrl & Mouse 2: +attack1

R: +reload



Plus, in TFC:



MWheelUp: Prime primary

MWheelDown: Prime secondary

(as soon as a grenade is primed, I can release it by doing mwheelup or mwheeldown, using a clever DaveJ script)



Works for me. A 1:50 kills/deaths ratio (or higher) is guaranteed.

I use the left and right arrow keys to turn left and right. I only use them while buying to move around.

I also play with a sensitivity of 11.6, which drives most people who play on my machine crazy. Some websites for the top CPL players have their game sensitivity listed, and it's usually between 2 and 4. I like having a high sensitivity so I can jump in the air and do a 180 and surprise someone, though it does make it really hard to snipe.

I used to use 9.5 and thought the same thing you did, but after seeing tons of people not using high sensitivity I figured I'd try it and I must say I'm waaaaay better with 2.1 than I was with 9.5. The way I see it you'll more often be shooting at people in front of you than jumping and spinning.



edit: You can also tell who the really cool FPS players are by who uses period/comma to strafe because those are the ones that played Doom/Duke Nukem 3D/Quake 1.
