Personally I always try to win by getting all the hossies (I never bother with de maps - I just don't like them bar de_survivor) while my teammates are off doing their deathmatch thing, though on some maps (cs_office and cs_estate) I'll just rescue one hostage, then get my teammates to kill the other hossies and win that way :). 'Course, if I'm a T (which I hate being), I'll cap all the hossies so they arn't an issue then - maybe if I'm lucky some CT will go and try to rescue the already dead hossies and I can cap them while they arn't really focusing. Anyway, yeah, I always try to complete the objective in some way or another.

Well, I don't understand the people who don't go for the objectives. I mean, I am not one for the clan scene, simply because that requires dedication and time, two luxuries I lack(yes, dedication is a luxury ;]). But to the point, Counter-strike revolves around objectives. Its like playing, say, pong, and not hitting the ball as it bounces around. Why play the game otherwise? Perhaps I just have this bizzare concept, but yeah, "pubs" are fun anyway since they are like pick-up games of any sport, you're in, you win, you're out, and allowed to return whenever you like.

It really pisses me off when people kill the all the hostages on purpose, YOU ARE DISCOURGIGING OTHER PEOPLE FROM TEAMPLAYING! Your just turning the round into a deathmatch round, if you want to play DM then go play iceworld or poolday but please stay off the objective maps.

It's just tactics. If you're T, kill the hossies and you don't need to worry about them, you can focus on hunting down the CTs while the CTs are still tryng to get to where the hossies were. If you're a CT and you've already got one hossie back to saftey (most likely to happen on cs_estate), kill the other hossies and you win - no need to spend time getting them back, thus you win quicker and easier. It doens't take away the teamplay element of CS, in fact it makes the teamplay element even more important. If you're a T you'll then need to use teamplay to take out all the CTs, if you're a CT you'l need teamwork and alot of trust to time the rescue/killing of particular hosatges. And of course as CT, you need your team to back you up when you rescuse that lone hostage.

killing the hosties IRL would be a very bad thing because now you have no defense against much stronger, more powerful counter terrorist force. They can blow you the fuck away without worrying about other causalities. in CS to make up for this missing link you can get kicked by the server for killing too many hostages. Killing them is not really a tactic it's more of an exploit of the game mechanisms. I think being able to move the hostages as terrorist was much better though.

A lot of people are lying their asses off on this poll. There are far too many people that DON'T follow objectives and don't think about anything but their own score, for the percentage to be so high.

Start telling the truth people, so we can see just how many of you little stat whores there are.

I'm with narby on the enforcing the objectives idea. On the server i am admin on whenever all the hosties are killed or offense overly camps i start slaying...if it happens again i ban...People think its harsh but there is a bomb in the level for a reason other than just dropping it at the beginning of the round.

I lie to my team usually. There's no sense in wasting my money on an MP5 when I can buy a better gun and armor next round and do very well.

As for enforcing objectives, I'm all for it. Without objectives CS is just DMC with different guns...well, not quite.

I prefer team play, but I can't stand clans. I don't like scheduling times I want to play, I want to play whenever I want. In dust, half the time I'm the only person rushing to the bomb site to plant. It's better to just get some friend's and play on a regular basis, really.
                      me too. !

I think Ts killing hossies really depends on the situation, for in real life, terrorists don't really 'lose' if the hossies are rescued and the Ts aren't dead.

                        *picture the scene (real life)*

                        CT-"Yeah we've rescued the hostages!!!"

CT2- "But theres Ts still inside the building"

CT- "Screw them, lets go home and eat donuts. They can get some more hostages"

CT2- "Yeah! Unlucky guys you lose!!!"

Thus, if they are getting butt raped by some sneaky CT who manages to get away with the hossies every round, I think they should be entitled to kill them to try and turn the tables.

does this mean that on a de_ map, on your server, if a man with the bomb kills all the CTs instead of planting he'd get slain etc.?

I know if I was a terrorist intent on blowing up random crates that I wouldn't want unfriendly bullets ricocheting off of them all around me.

                            -kill CTs

-plant the bomb at a leisurely pace, while drinking vanilla coke
