Nintendo Announces New Animated Mario Movie

Nintendo also announced tonight that there will be a new animated Mario film. The company says that they are teaming up with animation studio Illumination to bring the famous plumber/doctor/racecar driver/Olympic athlete/tennis star/pro golfer/basketball star/baseball star/painter to life on the big screen.

Nintendo says that the film will be co-produced by Shigeru Miyamoto and Chris Meledandri. Meledandri is the producer for such films as Despicable Me, Minions, Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, Cool Runnings, and the highly anticipated Minions 2 (coming in 2020). Just let that sink in: The year is 2018 and one of the people responsible for bringing Minions to life and the person that created Mario just announced they're making a new Mario movie.
