According to TASS, a Russian news agency, the first confirmed death related to the use of virtual reality happened this week. A 44-year old male was using a VR headset when he tripped, fell through a glass table, and died from blood loss.
The report does not specify the specific device that the man was using, but I don't really think that matters. It is a very unfortunate way to pass away. To those who have VR or are looking to get a VR device, be sure your play area is safe.
According to (Senior Assistant to the Head of the Russian Investigative Committee's Main Moscow Department, Yulia Ivanova), the 44-year-old man’s body was found on Thursday in his home on Marshal Zhukov Avenue.
"According to preliminary information, while moving around the apartment in virtual reality glasses, the man tripped and crashed into a glass table, suffered wounds and died on the spot from a loss of blood," Ivanova said.
