  • Deus Ex Revision Overhaul Mod Released Today via Steam

If you are a fan of the original Deus Ex game, and I know many of you are, you should go check out the Revision mod that was just released today. Revision overhauls the game with updated visuals, the game's environments, and includes an (optional) new soundtrack for the game. The mod is a product of the fans and even received an official press release today by Square Enix to celebrate the release.
“Where other projects fill in detail around the edges of the game by tuning gameplay mechanics or improving textures, we focus on the visceral core of the Deus Ex experience, bringing new level design, aesthetic direction and world-building detail,” said John French, Creative Director, Caustic Creative.

“One of the reasons that Deus Ex has been so popular for 15 years is the way in which the gaming community has embraced the ground-breaking gameplay and a narrative that looks to the future but is inspired by real-world events,” said David Anfossi, Head of Studio, Eidos-Montréal. “‘Revision’ from Caustic Creative is a fantastic way for fans new and old to experience the original Deus Ex in a whole new way before Deus Ex: Mankind Divided raises the bar once again.”

You can download the mod through Steam, for free, provided you own the base game. If you don't play Deus Ex through Steam, you can find a standalone installer at the Revision website.

A small tip for those who don't want to be confined to a 60Hz refresh rate: Go into your Revision.ini (in SteamApps\common\Deus Ex\System) and change RefreshRate=0 to RefreshRate=144 (or whatever rate you desire) under the D3D9Drv.D3D9RenderDevice heading.
