  • GTA Surpasses Skyrim for the Most Players in Game at the Same Time on Steam

It's not quite official yet, but the PC release of Grand Theft Auto V has sold really, really well. Some estimates already have GTA V sitting at over 1.1 million copies sold just on the PC, which isn't too shabby at all.

It should be no wonder then that the game has surpassed The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim as the most concurrently played title on Steam for non-Valve titles. Back in 2011, Skyrim topped off at 280,000 people playing at the same time. Today, Grand Theft Auto V pulled in a bit over 301,000 people playing at the same time.

Let's not forget that this is the third time this game has been released. Its initial release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 already shattered sales records back in 2014. It was the fastest media release (TV, film, gaming, etc.) to hit $1 billion in revenues. It was already the best selling game of all time in North America and the UK prior to the PC release coming out.
