  • China Gives the Green Light to Sell 5 Million Xbox One Consoles

BesTV, Microsoft's business partner in China, revealed that the country has just approved the sale of 5 million Xbox One units. The system will go on sale on September 23 and will mark the first time in 13 years that a foreign game console will be legally sold in the region.
Although China often censors gaming content to weed out excessive violence, the approval of 5 million Xbox One units signals that the country’s government is still giving ample room for actual device sales.

BesTV, a provider of Internet television services, is confident the Xbox One will rake in big profits over time. The industry is projecting that China’s console gaming market has the potential to sell over 50 million units over the next five years, the company said.

Unfortunately, the Xbox One will go for 3,699 yuan, which is $600 (USD), a $200 premium over what those in North America are currently paying for the console. Sony is also planning to release the PlayStation 4 in China, but there is no date or price announced for it yet.
