YouTube to Get 60 FPS Option

YouTube will soon have the ability to display a higher framerate than most Xbox One games (ho ho, I WENT THERE!). They revealed earlier this evening that they will "soon" have 48 FPS and 60 FPS options for uploaders.

They even went so far as to include a few sample videos that are apparently already running at 60 FPS. Unfortunately for everyone, it seems as though YouTube still insists at compressing the visual quality down just as much as before. So while the jump in framerate is certainly welcome, it doesn't really help when the overall quality still suffers greatly because of their re-encoding process.

You can see the sample videos below, including the trailer for Battlefield Hardline.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Apparently there is some issue if you are using Firefox. In that you probably won't actually get 60FPS and you will drop a ton of frames. You should either watch these videos in Chrome or (and I cannot confirm this fix) try the HTML 5 renderer for YouTube if you insist on using Firefox to watch these.

I watched them all in Firefox, they looked terrible and were barely above 30 FPS. I then watched them in Chrome and the difference was most certainly night and day.

Working...
