Rockstar has made it official, Grand Theft Auto V is finally coming to the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One this Fall.
They also note, at least for the PS4 version (presumably for all platforms) that if you have a GTA Online profile saved from a previous console generation, you will be able to use that same character and profile on the current generation version(s) of the game.
