Kalypso Media announced today that the pre-order sales for Tropico 5 have actually set new company records. The company says that it has managed to hit about four times as many pre-orders than Tropico 4 did.
The game is slated for release this Friday, with a physical release happening June 3. OS X and Xbox 360 versions are coming in the Summer, a PlayStation 4 version is coming in the Fall, and a SteamOS (Linux) version is coming at an unspecified date.
"We have put great passion and almost all available resources into the development and marketing of Tropico 5 and the pre-sales success once again demonstrates the talent and ability of our great teams in Germany, the UK and the USA," says Simon Hellwig, Global Managing Director of Kalypso Media. "We are constantly working to expand our franchises internationally and these figures for Tropico 5 are testament to this."
