Nintendo Being Sued Over Wii U Patent Dispute

Texas based company, Secure Axcess, has filed a lawsuit against Nintendo claiming that the company is infringing on a patent it filed in 2000 for "multiscreen personal computer display method apparatus."

As you can probably already tell, the lawsuit's main focus is on the Wii U and its use of the Wii U gamepad. The lawsuit goes beyond Nintendo, however, as Secure Axcess is also targeting retailers such as GameStop, Target, and Amazon for selling the device without a "license or authorization."

This isn't Nintendo's first rodeo with patent disputes. They previously dealt with patent disputes over their controllers, the 3DS screen, and the balance board. Rick Flamm, Nintendo's Senior VP of General Counsel, remarked during the battle over the balance board that they "refuse to succumb to patent trolls."

A trial by jury is expected to take place over this lawsuit from Secure Axcess.
