  • Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel Confirmed - Play as Claptrap

Another rumor has been confirmed today with the announcement by Gearbox of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel takes you to the moon above Pandora and the Hyperion base. There is a new oxygen mechanic you need to keep an eye on, new characters, low gravity combat, jetpacks, new vehicles, new laser weapon types, and more. You will witness Handsome Jack's and Hyperion's rise to power. You will also get to enjoy the new Cryo damage type.

Oh right, and you can play as Claptrap.

Who will those four new playable character classes be, you ask? Well, they are all familiar faces from the Borderlands universe:

    - Athena, the Gladiator: Uses her Kinetic Aspis, which is a shield that can absorb incoming damage, then convert it back into energy to use against enemies. Athena made her debut in The Secret Armory of General Knoxx DLC for the first Borderlands game.
    - Wilhelm, the Enforcer: Wilhelm was previously seen in Borderlands 2 as one of the first deadly bosses in the game.
    - Nisha, the Lawbringer: The sheriff of Lynchwood from Borderlands 2, Nisha will be dealing out her own brand of justice, which we'll discuss further in the coming months.
    - Claptrap, the Fragtrap: Wait - Claptrap? The goofy robot companion from Borderlands 2, now playable for the first time? Fragtrap is his character class? Well, you can play him too!

As if that wasn't enough, 2K Australia took the time to provide a developer overview of the game. Check it out and stay tuned for more information and screenshots in the weeks ahead. Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is slated for a Fall 2014 release on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC platforms.
