God, how I wish that were a typo. Sadly, it isn't. Nintendo announced a new hardware entry coming this Fall, the Nintendo 2DS. See, it's like the 3DS but without any reason to buy it.
The Nintendo 2DS is a completely different form factor from the 3DS and XL variants and features zero 3D viewing effect. The weird thing is, is that it still features a 3D camera on the device. That's crazy, right? I'm not alone in thinking this is completely nuts?
A redeeming factor of the 2DS is that it will retail for just $129 (USD), which is a bit cheaper than the 3DS.
Nintendo also announced today that a special Wind Waker HD Wii U Bundle will retail for $299 (USD) and will be released on October 4. The Deluxe Wii U bundle will also see a $50 price drop to $299, which is curiously the same price as the non-Deluxe model which will not see a price drop (at present).
