BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea DLC Takes Booker and Elizabeth to Rapture

If you don't already own the Season Pass for BioShock Infinite, then this "Burial at Sea" trailer should immediately sell you on it. You know, assuming you enjoyed Infinite as much as the rest of the world did.

Come back to Rapture in a story that finds Booker and Elizabeth on the eve of the underwater city's fall from grace. Developed by Irrational Games, the developer of the original BioShock and BioShock Infinite, this DLC features Rapture as you've never seen it before—a shining jewel at the bottom of the ocean, built almost entirely from scratch in the BioShock Infinite engine. Gameplay has been modified to give the player an original BioShock combat experience that merges the best parts of BioShock and BioShock Infinite.

Explore the city when it was at the height of its beauty, meet some old "friends," and make some new ones, all through the eyes of Booker DeWitt. Why are Booker and Elizabeth in Rapture? What was the city like before everything fell to pieces? The answers to these questions and more will be found in BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea -- Episode 1. This pack is included in the BioShock Infinite Season Pass.

Holy crap. I want this now!

While this isn't out just yet, the first piece of DLC for the game is out right now. The "Clash in the Clouds" DLC is kind of like an arena style horde-mode type deal. You fight a bunch of enemies in new areas that were inspired by the base game. You unlock a bunch of challenges, new Voxophones, Kinetoscopes, concept art, and more.

Clash in the Clouds is only $4.99 (USD) when bought separately. The two part "Burial at Sea" DLC will be $15 each. All three DLC releases are part of the BioShock Infinite Season Pass which goes for $19.99. All of this is or will be available on the PC through Steam, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

Booker and Elizabeth? Huh... So this is what they meant by a new partner. And technically Irrational Games didn't lie when they said that, because... WOAH! Okay okay I see the laser dots, I'll stop right here and say no more! Can I use spoiler tags then?... ACK! No need for warning shots, I'll change the topic now!

Ahem... I like how Irrational Games started development on BioShock Infinite's DLC after the release of BioShock Infinite, because not only does it convince all of us that we have the complete main product (and believe the DLC is developed in an "ethical manner" from a psychological perspective), it also lets us enjoy the actual game before anticipating for more content. I never did like those day one DLC announcements made before the game's even published, because then I feel rushed to finish the game and move on to what my mind is telling me to be "the rest of the good stuff." (And no, I don't consider the early bird benefits to be day one DLC. That's just merely... A bonus cheat code to go with the Season Pass you're buying I guess?)

What I fear is that our impatience and constant harassment to Ken Levine will make Irrational Games change their minds and revert to the current way DLC is developed and released.
