  • Epic Games Finally Working on a New AAA FPS Title

When Epic's Tim Sweeney isn't anticipating photo-realistic graphics "within 10 years," he's busy talking briefly about a new AAA first-person shooter in development at the studio.
"Now we're building several games at different scales. We're building Fortnite, a PC online game which is a fun, sort of Minecraft meets Left 4 Dead. It's a 35-person team. It's not aiming to beat Call of Duty in terms of graphics. It's more of a Pixar art style and a limited project in scope, just aimed at fun as opposed to massive breakthroughs in scale.

"We're building a bigger, triple-A shooter project that hasn't been announced yet. And we've also internally started developing really tiny projects with two or three guys working together as a team for a few months in small scale game development.

So what are you placing your bets on here? A game based off of their Infiltrator tech-demo? An original IP that we haven't seen anything for yet? Or are they going the safe route and making a new Unreal title?

Why is it that AAA devs still refer to CoD as the Benchmark for graphics?

Yeah that was pretty weird, even more when CoD doesn't look that amazing. Maybe he is referring to graphics in terms of art direction? Not gritty and "realistic", or full of those so called cinematic setpieces? Anyway, lets hope they will remember the PC exists when they are announcing it.
