    Article: DayZ Release Plans Detailed

Good news for fans of DayZ, the release plans for the game have started to be revealed (sort of). DayZ developer Dean Hall started to talk a little bit about the upcoming release of the standalone version of DayZ during a Rezzed 2013 developer session.

The full session recording is at the end of this news but the most important bit of the session can be read below.
I guess the big question that a lot of people have is when we're actually going to get this out.

We've set a date now... like a window of about a week. And we're not going to say when that is because originally we were going to release [the keys] in 50,000 key increments, but we've kind of decided to do everything kind of all together.

We really want to focus on making sure the architecture is good, so that we can get feedback.

So they have a date, they're just not saying publicly when that date is.

It's looking way better than what they showed at E3. I wish they expand that "homemade" crafting thing, where for example you could attach an empty spray can to a pistol to muffle some of it's sound(Walking dead style), though it obviously wouldn't make it as silenced as a real silencer.
But the thing i REAlly want for dayz is for you to have the ability to craft stuff like structures and barricades. For example you and another player could craft one of those deer stands out of a certain amount of wood.

Oil filters do make a gun as silenced as a suppressor.

The walking dead used spray cans and flash lights as suppressors but those type of cylinders wouldn't work unless other things were stuffed in them.

Well, I suggested it would only muffle the sound as sort of a balancing thing, since finding suppressors should be harder than making an improvised one. I guess

Out of curiosity, are empty spray cans flammable enough to ignite from a gun when used as a suppressor?
