Xbox One Will Only Work in 21 Countries at Launch

According to this official Pre-Order information page for the Xbox One, Live will not work in most countries upon the console's release. Subsequently, if Live doesn't work, that means that the device can't phone home and thus you cannot play games either.

These are the only Xbox One supported Live countries available at the console's launch later this year.

As for Asia, it seems as though Microsoft won't even be launching the console there until late 2014. Even then, it will only be available in select Asian markets such as Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, and India.

The news of the late 2014 launch for select Asian markets comes courtesy of the Wall Street Journal speaking with Alan Bowman, Microsoft's Regional VP for Sales and Marketing in Asia.

This is a joke, right? At this point it has to be! Microsoft is going to say "Gotcha!" to the world and reveal their real plans for release next week, right?
