I'm not really trying to defend Xbox at all. I'm sure + is better...Gold sucks. Just pointing out that they are charging for online, which honestly to me, no matter how many incentives they offer, is a major downside. I only paid for Gold a couple of months and will never again pay for online.

And Zips, technically Xbox Live Gold members will also get free games soon (I believe they said 5 per month, while PS+ is a variable). However, Sony still wins with their monthly fee cheaper by $10, and the already super happy PS+ subscribers using word of mouth to convince other gamers to join in without worry. Microsoft still needs to prove themselves with their future offering.

Anarchy1: I have to admit though, Sony used the PS3's free online multiplayer service as a selling point, and they assured gamers multiplayer remains free for the PS3 with the introduction of PS+. While no promises were technically broken, it hurts to know one of their strengths has been abandoned for the PS4.

Then that's fine, don't get a console or don't play games online. Given the choice, I'll happily pay a few bucks for tons of bonuses and consider those what I'm paying for, not the online.

I made a mistake. Xbox Live Gold members get 2 free Xbox 360 games per month until the Xbox One launches. This isn't even competing against PS+, so forget what I said earlier.
