Article: Microsoft Reportedly Cancelled Post-E3 Roundtable with Media as Xbox One Hardware Trouble Rumors Continue

A long standing staple of the "big" conferences taking place at E3 (from Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo in past years) is that each company would hold a post-conference roundtable with interested members of the media.

It looks like Microsoft isn't doing that this year. Oh boy, what now. The cancellation comes from just one source, Sun Media reporter Steve Tilley.
Microsoft has cancelled its #E3 post-press conference roundtable w/ the media. Not sure what to make of that.

That doesn't sound like a good thing, especially for a company that has been tripping all over themselves since the Xbox One reveal the other week. Either Microsoft plans on being as clear as day during their conference, leaving no stone unturned, or they have some things to hide.

It probably doesn't help matters that this news coincides with a new rumor that Microsoft is having trouble with ESRAM yields for the console. This comes from a very cryptic but incredibly reliable (given his past track record) source on NeoGAF. Why the strange typing? It's apparently easier to hide his identity and he's less likely to be quoted by the media.

This rumor has also tied in to another rumor that the Xbox One GPU might be downclocked and less powerful than originally planned. Sony is reportedly not having these issues since they were much further along in the production cycle than Microsoft, with Microsoft scrambling at the last minute to get things in order.

Oh, next week is going to be glorious. Absolutely glorious.

It is another type of RAM. It is suppose to be faster and more reliable than the current DRAM that we use today.

So with this "rumor" Microsoft cancels its roundtable to help tone down the rumor. Yeah, that doesn't give any validity to the problem as well as the other rumors about DRM and always on and so on.

If I was going to be buying a next gen console I would be waiting until release to see what limitations have been put in place.

I think I will be waiting for a while before making a decision about buying a next gen console.

According to Mr. Tilley, his source is from an E-mail from the PR agency, and the official reason is "due to some changes in execs' schedules 'including some external industry and partner sessions.' " Unofficially? Yeah probably to avoid interrogation from the gaming press/people who actually know how to ask questions unlike the general/technology press (who probably joined in the staff cheering during the reveal event).

Personally I think I'll follow stilla-killa and wait it out until people know what the heck these sentient machines are. I don't even know how the PS4 will handle privacy with their EyeToy, so I'm just as scared of the PS4 as I am for the Xbox One. I wonder if the Wii U Gamepad's camera can be automated as well? Hmm... I'm breaking out the tin-foil hat.

Weird, i buy my computer parts, shove them in and they run well, you'd have thought planning and making 1 spec of machine at this scale with so many specialists and engineers would be fairly simple.
