Oculus Rift Co-Founder Andrew Reisse Killed in Police Chase

Andrew Scott Reisse, a 33-year old that co-founded Oculus VR, makers of the Oculus Rift, was struck and killed during a police chase in Santa Ana, California.

Reisse was merely a pedestrian walking in a crosswalk when he was struck and killed at the end of the police chase. Reisse was described by co-workers as a "brilliant mind."
"Andrew was a brilliant computer graphics engineer, an avid photographer and hiker who loved nature, a true loyal friend, and a founding member of our close-knit Oculus family," the company said in a statement.

"Andrew's contributions span far and wide in the video game industry. His code is embedded in thousands of games played by millions of people around the world," the statement said. "Words can not express how sorely he will be missed or how deeply our sympathy runs for his family."

The chase that ended in tragedy began with a physical altercation between 26-year old Gerado Diego Ayala and the police. The altercation ended with a fatal officer-involved shooting. At that point, 21-year old Victor Sanchez and two other suspects fled in a Dodge Charger. The chase involved several cars being hit and several red lights being run, including the one where Reisse was struck and killed.

The suspects were taken into custody and are all apparently gang members on probation with outstanding warrants out for their arrests.

Our condolences to Reisse's family, friends, and co-workers.

This is very sad news to read. I hope those "insert some colorful words here," get what they deserve and more... It is sad to see people lose their lives in things they weren't even involved with . My condolences to Reisse's family and all.

Of all the ways to die, innocent bystander is one of the worst. It feels so random and makes you lose hope about the decency of the world.
