Reisse was merely a pedestrian walking in a crosswalk when he was struck and killed at the end of the police chase. Reisse was described by co-workers as a "brilliant mind."
"Andrew was a brilliant computer graphics engineer, an avid photographer and hiker who loved nature, a true loyal friend, and a founding member of our close-knit Oculus family," the company said in a statement.
"Andrew's contributions span far and wide in the video game industry. His code is embedded in thousands of games played by millions of people around the world," the statement said. "Words can not express how sorely he will be missed or how deeply our sympathy runs for his family."

The chase that ended in tragedy began with a physical altercation between 26-year old Gerado Diego Ayala and the police. The altercation ended with a fatal officer-involved shooting. At that point, 21-year old Victor Sanchez and two other suspects fled in a Dodge Charger. The chase involved several cars being hit and several red lights being run, including the one where Reisse was struck and killed.
The suspects were taken into custody and are all apparently gang members on probation with outstanding warrants out for their arrests.
Our condolences to Reisse's family, friends, and co-workers.
