Metro: Last Light Video Review (PC)

Metro: Last Light is an enjoyable albeit slightly flawed title. Find out why by checking out the above video.

Metro: Last Light was reviewed on the PC version of the game and was not provided to TGN for reviewing purposes. You can pick up the game from Steam for $49.99 (USD).

Great review, Zips. It is funny how far a company that broke away from the Developers of STALKER a year before its release have come. At least these guys are still kicking too...

I really want to watch the review but I also don't want to be spoiled because I really want to play the game by myself xD

      Edit:
Just tell me something I'm curious about. In the end of Metro 2033 you had the choise to either kill or save the Dark Ones. How does metro last light continue? Does it assume you chose to kill them?

There are two different spoiler tags, they both should work.

        Like this.

And yes, this game takes up if you chose to bomb the Dark Ones. I mention that in my video but beyond that, it's spoiler free of anything super major.

Aww, I chose not to bomb them and I wish I could continue from that point on

Either read my post as a quote or search for "spoiler tags" or click the button on the post editor that looks like "SP".

Ah so this is the video that you had to re-render due to an issue with audio levels. Your vagueness had me wondering what video you were going to post. I'm actually surprised at what you gave the game, considering your desire to playthrough it again. Maybe this is why I like TGN/CS-Nation reviews as well as a handful of others that follow a similar format. I think I've gotten bored of reading reviews from people who write in third-person with minimal personal thoughts. Perhaps all I wanted this whole time from gaming reviews is a more personable approach where I can hear an individual's thoughts spoken in their style as if I asked them in-person.

I laughed at your response to rain, and understood certain comments you have made about the game overall, and I have a suspicion as to why the game is what it is. It's possible that the troubles with THQ and its fate riding on being auctioned caused this game to have scope limitations in order to have enough time to polish what they have done. At an early stage in development, THQ probably couldn't afford to support 4A Games into making the game into something closer to what you would like, thus the scope limitations happened.

I doubt they had many design limitations for this game that would prevent them from going open world or allowing for more exploration. If only because the first game was just as linear as this one. And to be fair, I really rather disliked the first game.

I'm still wondering if 4A stayed away from Open World to distance themselves from STALKER. They did make the scarier parts of the First game, and without them the Underground sections of the next two STALKER games fell really flat in comparison.

Not that a Open world metro would be a bad thing, but getting an open world game based around the whole tunnel system would be a difficult undertaking. Though if pulled off could work really well.

edit: just to clear up what I meant by "they did make..." I mean that the guy/s who did the underground sections were the ones who joined up with 4A, not that there were 2 companies working on it. Not that difficult but you never know...

Thanks, that's what was missing, me reading the post as quote.
