Activision Lays Off 40 Employees from Deadpool Developer

High Moon Studios was hit with layoffs today from Activision. 40 full-time staff members of the development team were let go today as development nears an end on the Deadpool game.

    Statement from Activision spokesperson

"Activision Publishing consistently works to align its costs with its revenues - this is an ongoing process. With the completion of development on Deadpool, we are taking a reduction in staff at High Moon Studios to better align our development talent against our slate. Approximately, 40 full-time employees will be impacted globally. We are offering those employees who are impacted outplacement counseling services."

The Deadpool game is slated to be released this Summer for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC platforms. We again wish all the best to those employees that were affected by this.

A lot of layoffs before release. I wonder if the game will be good or how it will be supported after release?

We dont know how big the studio was anyway, maybe it was 200 strong or something.

According to their About page, they employ around 100 people, so it looks like they almost wiped out half of their staff if their website is up to date. Either that or they laid off people until they're back at ~100.
