First Screens and Details Emerge for Diablo 3 on the PlayStation 3

Blizzard blew the lid off of their plans to bring Diablo III to the console masses last night during the PlayStation 4 reveal event. They announced that there will be both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game, and today we get our first look at the PS3 version.

Diablo III for the PS3™/PS4™ will be based on the core PC game and feature all the latest updates, including Paragon levels, the Infernal Machine event, Monster Power, Brawling, and more. This version is also being tailored with customized controls, a new user interface, and a dynamic camera perspective to provide an awesome Diablo III experience for PlayStation gamers.

Players will be able to wage war against the Burning Hells on their own in single-player games as well as team up and destroy countless demons with their fellow Nephalem in multiplayer games. For multiplayer, players will have the option to choose between four-player online (complete with matchmaking) and four-player local co-op modes for their couch-based warfare.

The PS3 version of the game will make its public debut at PAX East when it takes place from March 22-24.

This game is still alive, maybe someday they will make leaps and bounds to making it feel more like the original series but my faith in most Blizzard items has been lost rather quickly over the last year :/.

I'm more worried about when Blizzard will reinstate real names in a more subtle way, like how SOPA is merely tabled and not actually defeated by vote. While it's a little disheartening to know that PC's value is never high enough to retain PC exclusive developers (since there's no corporation governing it unlike consoles), I do take comfort in the fact that I enjoyed Blizzard's early games, which were all console games (Blackthorne!).

I didn't actually discover their PC games until Warcraft came out. In other words, I imagine Diablo and other future titles should have about the same quality for all platforms they release on. I don't know if they will suffer from the "Battlefield 3 effect" though (to be fair, BF3 does have exclusive features consoles will never have, and Blizzard is doing the same).

I fully agree with you the early Blizzard North production titles on both console and PC were awesome. Once Blizzard shut the doors of Blizzard North everything just feel a part . Again it does seem everyone rather dump the money into console and port to PC, again it is cheaper. I'm waiting to hear Starcraft 2 coming to console so I can laugh at the console people trying to play that game haha.
