Medal of Honor Series Put on Hold

EA has revealed today that the Medal of Honor series has been put on an unspecified hold period. This follows a poor showing, both from critics and from a sales perspective, for Medal of Honor Warfighter.

Peter Moore, the COO for EA, is quoted as saying, "the game was solid but the focus on combat authenticity did not resonate with consumers. Critics were polarized and gave the game scores which were, frankly, lower than it deserved.

This one is behind us now. We are taking Medal of Honor out of the rotation, and have a plan to bring year-over-year continuity to our shooter offerings."

With this new move, it seems as though EA may place a bigger push behind its Battlefield series of games.

Damn it! I was really hoping for a Medal of Honor racing game! The driving sections were really good, and is something I wished other shooters implemented properly (like say the near-defunct 007 franchise).

I want a Medal of Honor which tries, i want something more special than the dry modern combat setting, i want something other than beards.

When you've found someone who can convince the business side of EA to say yes to a creative story for MoH, maybe re-release Allied Assault to get on everyones good side again.

If I get it I think I just want it for the SP. Though of course for that to be feasable It would have to be $20 (I still think in Australian Pricing, that is aiming low for me)

How about a joint effort to produce Battlefield? Danger Close developing the singleplayer portion, and DICE developing the multiplayer portion? They almost pulled it off with MOH 2010, but Battlefield 3 made MOH's multiplayer design much more restricted (both DICE's resources and theme differences between BF/MOH made it difficult). Think that could work? I mean, the only memorable singleplayer part from Battlefield 3 that I can remember is the rat battle. For MOH:W I wished they spent more resources on the game and less on force cramming Linkin Park in (that and it's hard to get emo when the character models look so awkward).

... I still want my modern warfare kart racer by Danger Close. They know how to make driving fun.
