A news post at OMG! Ubuntu! says that Valve is readying an open beta for their Steam for Linux client next week. This news apparently comes from a post made to the closed Steam for Linux mailing list.
They go on to note how many games on Steam are showing system requirements for Linux. Developers are being urged to submit their system requirements to Valve and so far the list of games is growing at a steady clip.
The open beta will also reportedly bring with it a new web page telling how to install Ubuntu and Steam for Linux, statistics on current Linux games, and all supported Linux games will be made available for purchase.
"The Open Beta will be available to the public and will increase the current population from 80K to a higher number."
