The Phantom Pain was debuted tonight during the 2012 VGAs. Interesting in its own right there was some things about that trailer that really stuck in my mind, and the minds of many others.
First off, the engine looked an awful lot like the new Fox Engine technology that Kojima and company have been working on for quite some time now.
The studio itself, Moby Dick Studio, is a complete unknown in the world of gaming. They seemed to have materialized out of thin air over night. The CEO of the company is Joakim Mogren. Joakim is an anagram of Kojima.
And then, there are the images found by those on NeoGaf (2). The first is a teaser image from the Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes that was announced a few months back.
Two phantoms were born, you say? It is also known that a second Metal Gear Solid title is also in development, this much has been known since the first details were dropped for Ground Zeroes.
Next is a still taken from the Phantom Pain trailer and a comparison to Volgan from Metal Gear Solid 3. Notice any resemblance?
This last one might also be a bit of a stretch. I'm not sure where this originated, but there's also this. Someone noticed some very interesting letters obscured at the end of the trailer.
At the end of the trailer, the woman seems to say "V has come to" or something to that effect. It also appears as though the Sorrow or possibly Psycho Mantis was also shown for a split second. Plus, you know, the guy on the ground looks like Snake, complete with an eye patch.
Are your pants filled yet? They should be.
