Black Mesa Releasing Partially on September 14

On September 14, gamers will finally get to play the long in development Black Mesa mod! Oh wait, there's still a catch! That catch is that it won't be everything from the original Half-Life. In fact, you will only be able to play up to the Lambda Core with the Xen portion and Black Mesa Deathmatch coming at a later date.

In addition to this news, however, is word that the Black Mesas Soundtrack is available right now. How much is it? It's however much you want it to be!

We're freaking out over here! It is so exciting to share this news with you!
    • You can now Download the Black Mesa Soundtrack, courtesy of our very own Joel Nielsen, at the very generous price of whatever you want! Enjoy and share!
    • In the near future you'll see our Website, Wiki and Forums all taken down temporarily for renovations.
    • On September 14th you will see the first release of Black Mesa! This will include our re-envisioning of Half-Life all the way up to Lambda Core. We believe this is a great way to provide a complete-feeling 8-10 hour experience with a solid ending, make our fans happy and help us make the best overall game possible.

We are still working hard on Xen and BMDM, but instead of making you wait we are giving you Black Mesa as soon as it's ready! We're doing our best to help bring the immense vision of this project into reality, and we are very excited for what the future brings!

    Hey, at least it's something!

So, this "experiementation game" or "demo" gives you up to 8-10 hours of gameplay?

Well... I'd expect Xen to be about an hour or two, so you pretty much have the whole game in itself. I'm assuming they're changing the jumping puzzles to be less cheap and irritating which means making up their own gameplay mechanics that VALVe didn't do back then. I'm also unsure how long the deathmatch will last before we move on, so I guess the second portion of the game will last 2 hours (Xen) + 1 year of deathmatch?

Since I'm a Half-Life geek, I rearranged the track order for the soundtrack (the MP3s have no track numbers) to reflect the chronological order of the game, splitting out the mixes that don't appear in-game for the end. It looks like this:

01 - Black Mesa Theme (Mesa Remix)
          02 - Inbound Part 1
          03 - Inbound Part 2
          04 - Inbound Part 3
          05 - Anomalous Materials
          06 - Unforeseen Consequences
07 - Office Complex (Mesa Remix)
          08 - We've Got Hostiles
          09 - Blast Pit 1
          10 - Blast Pit 2 (Mesa Remix)
          11 - Blast Pit 3
          12 - Power Up
          13 - On a Rail 1
          14 - On a Rail 2
          15 - Apprehension (Mesa Remix)
          16 - Residue Processing
          17 - Questionable Ethics 1
          18 - Questionable Ethics 2
          19 - Surface Tension 1
          20 - Surface Tension 2
          21 - Surface Tension 3
          22 - Surface Tension 4
          23 - Forget About Freeman
          24 - Lambda Core
          25 - End Credits 1
          26 - End Credits 2
          27 - Office Complex
          28 - Blast Pit 2
          29 - Apprehension
          30 - Black Mesa Theme

Great soundtrack--give it a download, and if you like it, support Joel! :)
