Rumor: Half-Life 3 Shown in Private at Gamescom 2012 (Updated and Debunked)

Update: It seems as though Christian trolled everyone just for a few more hits to his Twitter account. His latest Tweets (1,2) state the following:

"Who the "awesome environment" and wants to see real life lighting "of the last pictures that you want to visit the St. Michels Church. Soon a fine article about Hype Trains in the blog. Hope on Half-Life 3, Valve back door! Thank Internet for all the hype train-news <3"

Tweeted just for a "Hype Train" social experiment? Excellent way to lose what little credibility you had left.


Original: Someone known on Twitter simply as Christian G. (@onlinegott) has reportedly snagged three very vague and obscure images from a private showing at Gamescom 2012. The showing, if his Twitter remarks hold any water, showcased Half-Life 3 in some capacity.

The Tweets that go along with the above three images read:

"Seen game at gamescom. Monitor capture. Can not wait till NDA drops. Risk! Blablabla, Mr ..." - Link

"Fr33man! Tell your friends!" - Link

"Last, look right on the Techscreens. If you wait three times on it half his life:" - Link

Now, we've been through this before. So far as Valve kept saying, the only thing discussed at Gamescom 2012 were Steam related news, and not Half-Life 3. However, this random person is now claiming to have these three shots and is making claims they're for Half-Life 3. This person does apparently work for a fairly large German gaming news site, for whatever that's worth.

I'm merely serving as a messenger of the news and speculation as it comes in.

From my understanding, the person who "leaked" these does not have a history of trolling or lying to his fans. The site he works for is also quite reputable. Take that for what you will.

I'm glad I am not a very big fan so this doesn't really hurt me at all. I won't say I am not interested or hyped for Half Life 3, because I am, but it's really a lot of fun reading through these threads and seeing how everyone everywhere suffers so much with these guys trolling xD Now, everytime I see a title with Half life and a 3 on it, I'm pretty sure it's going to be something about how someone trolled a whole desperate community.
