Wii U Not Capable of Running Unreal Engine 4

When asked if the Wii U would be able to handle Unreal Engine 4, Geoff Keighley remarked that it is limited to Unreal Engine 3 only.

No, at GDC Mike Capps said Wii-U will be Unreal Engine 3.

Is this another negative for the unreleased Wii U from Nintendo? Right now it's about on par with the graphical capabilities of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. With new consoles just around the corner from Sony and Microsoft, should Nintendo have gone all out instead of holding way back with the Wii U's specs?

They should have gone all out. It is very obvious what people want in a console as Xbox and PS3 both have added these features. Wii U brings nothing to the table that Xbox or Sony doesnt already have, other than Mario/Zelda games that can be played on the Wii.

As an owner of a Wii I can say that out of the three, Wii U would be my last choice.

If you ask Epic, Unreal Engine 4 won't work on supercomputers either.

HA, that is great. You need to trade mark that.

That's a good point that this might be a loaded question. The issue though is that the Wii U is still going to be behind on technology vs. the existing and future console competitors.

I really think Nintendo needs to re-think their specs.

I know, what do I know, right? Im just thinking as a consumer, Nintendo fan, and all seeing llama of the future.

I think the main appeal of the Wii U is going to be the lowest price of the three consoles, with state of the art wireless streaming (presumably lag-free and hopefully "more advanced" than the PSP/PS3) from one console to another. Personally I feel that the Wii is supposed to be an improved Power Glove, and the Wii U is the feasible version of the GameCube with GBAs connected to it.

              ... Yipee...
