Dust 514 is PlayStation 3's First F2P Shooter

Dust 514, the first-person shooter that ties in quite nicely with EVE Online, will be the PlayStation 3's first free-to-play title! In fact, according to IGN, you don't even need a subscription to EVE Online in order to play.

The first public showing of the game will take place from March 22-24 in Iceland during EVE Fanfest. Developer, CCP, will give fans their first hands-on for the game.

As a minor note, there's also going to be a version for the Playstation Vita. Thing is, it's going to be a companion app rather than a port of the game. Supposedly allows management of your character and control of currency transactions (presumably both in-game and real). And hypothetically speaking, the "companion app" will be able to expand through updates, whatever they may be (which I doubt even the developers would know at such an early stage).

As a first impression opinion of mine, what is being implied sounds like something a smartphone can do, and may seem like a waste for a portable console (or computing device if Sony legally enforces the definition to their portable line-up as well). I mean, wouldn't that be more suited for the Xperia Play for practicality and convenience when on the go?

It's the first trailer link I bothered to find is all. I don't know if they have an official YT channel or not. If they do I must've kept missing it.
