Valve Showing Something Behind Closed Doors at E3 2012

As noted by Lambda Generation, Valve will be in attendance at E3 2012 after being sadly absent from the 2011 show. They, however, won't be showing anything in a public booth, only behind closed doors in a private meeting room.

Taking place from June 5 - June 7, 2012, what Valve might be showing in Private Meeting Room 501B is anybody's guess. With Dota 2 already well within the public spotlight, it seems weird that they would show that off in private. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive isn't really a secret anymore either with plenty of people already enjoying the beta. So what then does that leave?

Well, the obvious guesses are Half-Life 3 or Half-Life 2: Episode 3. Perhaps it may even be Left 4 Dead 3 or a Portal 3, though these two seem to be far less likely. Then again, there have been some pieces of concept art released these past few months that indicate an entirely new, space-based IP possibly in the works from the studio.

Also, given that this is a private meeting room, the chances for us to see footage, or at least HD footage, from whatever it is that Valve is showing off is slim to none. Let the wild speculation begin!

I have a feeling Half Life 3 will be the new Diablo III. Also, even though it's too soon, I wouldn't say no to another Portal.

This just pisses me off more. Half Life fans out there want to know about Half Life. They dont give a shit if Valve turns up to E3 if there arnt going to publicly show anything, whats the point?

Valve likes to do crazy internet things to announce the release of a game. This meeting could be to organize the orchestration of that.

If in any way Valve doesn't announce anything related to Half-Life 3, I will officially give up on this matter. It's just blind faith at this moment. I honestly think they just don't know how to end the series. I mean for god's sake, DICE announced Battlefield 3 at some crappy ass convention, just completely out of the blue, and hundreds of thousands of fans were completely taken away by the news.

I'm hoping for either Gunman: Chronicles 2 or Ricochet 2. I'll be so disappointed if it's Day of Defeat 2... Or any other title that isn't forced to reach #3.

Valve likes to do crazy internet things to announce the release of a game. This meeting could be to organize the orchestration of that.

They wouldn't do that at a public show, even if it is in a private room. Private rooms are typically more for letting small groups of attendees in to show them something and explain to them what they're seeing without having to shout and controlling what they're able to see more carefully.

Besides, they tend to fly out a representative from the other companies to Valve HQ for things like the ARG's...
