Daytona USA Confirmed for PS3 and Xbox 360

Sega confirmed the rumors today and announced that Daytona USA will be coming soon to a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 near you. The game is a revamp of the 1993 classic and will offer up a widescreen format, support for steering wheels, and will include online multiplayer.

The visuals, despite their new widescreen format, will be largely the same as when it was originally released. Arcade, Survival, and Time Trial modes all return and are rounded out by the game's original soundtrack.

Due out on October 25 (yes, this month), the game will make its modern era debut on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade for just $9.99 (USD; 800MS Points). Those who are part of the "PlayStation Plus" club will get an extra 30% off, knocking the price down to just $6.99.

Hopefully this version will also contain the extra tracks featured in Daytona USA Deluxe (PC for those who never heard of it). Not sure why they couldn't do a Daytona USA/Daytona 2/Sega Rally Championship bundle though. I don't mean the remade Sega Rally, I meant the original one with the horribly short timer and the incredibly obnoxious game over sound. One price for three seperate downloads would've been nice (in case it's too large for a single download).
