I now, I read through most of those topics. I'm sure once the 64 player conquest maps with jets come out, many of them will change their minds somewhat. Of course a 32 player, linear, rush map in an alpha isn't going to feel like BF2.

I never said I wanted it to be like BF2. But alot of people were whining at the alpha forums when they realized that it wasn't like BF2.

I don't understand why people want this game to be exactly like BF2. BF2 is 6 years old. It needs to be adapted to do well in today's market. And it isn't like BF2 was anything like BF:V or BF1942. Probably just nostalgia. BF2 was great, but it has a lot of problems as well. BF3 is a new game, and it is also great. People need to come to terms with the fact that it is a different game.

Squads (yeah, there are 4 to them, so what, they are still squads)
BF Kits and their layouts
Map sizes
Conquest mode
4 maps that came straight out of BF2
Who knows how many weapons coming from BF2 to BF3
Dedicated servers
Rank, ribbons,and achievements

Thats all without me even thinking about it. Im sure someone could add a few more things.

Lol hmm all can think of right off hand is prone, jets and 64 player servers and the Back to Karkand expansion pack.

what elements did they use from bf2?apart from the name i see nothing from bf2 really.(oh ok maybe prone but thats been done before)

squads are only 4 because consoles only have 4 buttons ect.

I will say it felt like they took some elements from the following games, MOH, BC2 and BF2, and made BF3. Not saying that is bad but those looking for this game to be exactly like BF2 but on steroids might be disappointed but that is the feel I took away from the alpha.

Well i do expect a true sequel and its name is BF3,not BC3 otherwise they are just raping the name.BC has been done and this is ment to be PCs chance, I wouldnt be so critical if it hasnt been 6 years since weve had a BF game.So far ive just seen infantry mode and its not enough.

Judging from my experience in the alpha test, you guys are better off NOT to order this game. This is NOT a true sequel to what was the glorious BF2. Sooooooo many are going to find themself feeling cheated, and the rest are to young and stupid to know what a decent BF game is..

Some of us do not wear the beer goggles of BF2 and know the true flaws in the game and do not want an exact replica of a game that was ruined with patch after patch and it took mods to improve it.

ha I already got the early beta access, even though I never played MoH online as far as I could remember, just registered it to my account, or used my ea account to login cant remember ha the origin price isnt that great but I bet a lot of people will do it to get into the beta and then cancel their pre order once they get into the early beta?

Same. I prefer having the physical DVD but the incentives from Origin are tempting.

I'm just making my mind where to pre order..A physical DVD is great if I need to take it somewhere else... Origin is tempting with all the offers... but Direct2Drive has % off... fuuuuuu

It will be open to everyone. There is one closed + one open beta. The closed beta is the early access to the open beta.

At least that is what I've been hearing. More info will come soon.

Early acces to the OPEN beta? Interesting way to combine marketing and development research.

I could have missed it somewhere, its not impossible, but I dont recall seeing anywhere where DICE or EA said the beta was open. Even the "open alpha" was not open to everyone.
