Battlefield 3 Outlook Hazy: Just What is Exclusive to EA's Origin?

The UK pre-order page for Battlefield 3 mentions that the title will be available "only on Origin." The problem is, what exactly is exclusive to Origin? The complete title itself, pre-order bonus goodies, or the "Limited Edition" version of the game? Perhaps it will be available only in the UK through Origin and other regions will have more download options available?

Any one of those options appears to be quite viable given the vague wording on the pre-order page. Before jumping to conclusions, what do you think is going to happen with Battlefield 3?

We've posed this question before, but let's pose it again now: If you can only acquire Battlefield 3 through Origin, will you purchase it digitally?

Additionally, if you purchase it through retail, there may be a chance that you have to install Origin anyway, much as you do with Steamworks titles and Steam. Will you still purchase it in any form if that is the case?

I would not purchase it digitally either way so to me that is not a problem. I might just preorder digital if i can't get the limited edition of my store.

But now i dont get it. Is the Battlefield 3 + Btk = Limitededition at no extra charge at origin, or is that valid to any store around the world where you preorder? Because i want to be sure that if i preorder at my local store they give me the limited edition also at no extra charge

It is not unlikely that EA will use BF3 to force Origin on the poor customers.
If they do so, I will get a DVD, unless the game requires that the DVD is in the drive. In that case I will have to go with Origin.
I will have to admit, the chances of me not buying BF3 are slim, even if it comes as a suppository

Well, if it isn't available through steam I will be getting a hard copy even if the game has to be run through Origin. I think EA should accept that Steam has the download games thing nailed and work with them to make the most out of it, instead of making a cheap competitor which will most likely fail, look at EA Link...

Getting mine off Game, Dont see the point of paying a £10 premium for something that has no case art.

As you may already be aware, the UK release date for Battlefield 3 Limited Edition: Physical Warfare Pack has changed to 28-Oct-2011

A week early was too good to be true.

If EA download manager wasn't a hit then why would they think Origin will be any different. Only time will tell.

I can vouch for this:

Origin is just a reskin and name change for the EADM, iwch had already changed name from something else.

I can access my old games just fine, and you can so far, still link directly to the game's executable file and run it without the EADM or Origin running in the background, something you CANT do when installing from Steam.

I bought my BF3 preorder from the online store while it was EADM and it shows as the same item.

EDIT: My only real beef with the EA store and EADM/Origin is that they tend to price their games higher than if you bought them physically; and that's just BULL. Tough I like the EADM stuff more as it's basically just downloading the installers, and once you get them you can save on disc and burn them to a DVD for later reinstall *shrugs* With Steam I have to download with their crappy service (EADM is faster for me) install, then back up THE INSTALL, then burn the install to DVD wich is not often a feasible thing (installers come compressed, full installs are now larger than a dual layer DVD sometimes)
I bought my BC2 copy on steam; then realized we would be getting it two days late, and launch patch even later, grabbed the CDkey from Steam, validated it through EADM (same with Vietnam) and downloaded through it in less time. So, there.
