Battlefield 3 Outlook Hazy: Just What is Exclusive to EA's Origin?
Re: Battlefield 3 Outlook Hazy: Just What is Exclusive to EA's Origin?
If EA wants people using their service then they should just charge cheaper then anywhere else. I don't have a problem with origin, I just don't like having choices.
Ea would love nothing more to not have to make CD's or game boxes and distribute them all over the world, saving them millions but what will they give us back in return?.
I'm always going to want my hardcopy dvd, half the fun is going to the game store and running home with a copy ,staring at the box.
Not everyone has super DL speeds or data amounts, maybe in ten years?.
Given that the "Back to Karkand" expansion is going to be digital download only, you'll probably need to get it through EA's re-branded digital download service "Origin".
As for not being on Steam, well Starcraft 2 wasn't on Steam and neither will Diablo 3 - not going to stop people from getting the game, and if that's a "deal killer" then you've chosen the wrong hobby.

Exactly what I was just thinking. The DLC is definitely going to be digital download, and if the digital download is exclusive to Origin (and I would say with certainty that it will be), obviously you are going to have to use Origin to download that.
I won't be surprised if EA forces you to use Origin to play. If so, then I am going to stick with the digital download. If you don't have to use Origin if you get the hard copy, then I will just get that one.

It is not unlikely that EA will use BF3 to force Origin on the poor customers.
If they do so, I will get a DVD, unless the game requires that the DVD is in the drive. In that case I will have to go with Origin.
I will have to admit, the chances of me not buying BF3 are slim, even if it comes as a suppository
Vreki - I signed in just to say that this was hilarious.
