I try to not take the story too seriously, or more than an action movie. Though if they were going for an action movie feel, they could have at least not made it so cheesy (imo) with all the slow motion sequences. I was a bit surprised when I saw the CSI bullet analysis to track down Makarov in CoD, but then I guess that's just the NCIS part of the writing. :p

The previous games were reenactments of battles. Whether Russians were good or evil was left purely to intepretation. Modern Warfare 2 is something completely different and it has abandoned COD-s established storytelling.

There were 'good' Loyalist Russians in MW1 that fought on your side.

2) There is no way any nation could launch an airborne surprise attack againt the US. We are talking a gigantic airfleet just to move the troops and armour, and then there is the whole supplyline thing. And that goes both ways, remember how long it took the coalation to build up for the Iraq invasion? Even the collected airforces of NATO cant move an entire army by Air.

The Russians had the ACS module, which supposedly allowed them to bypass the US defenses. Why the US didn't take any precautions after the downing of one of their military satellites is beyond me.

Who said anything about realism?

Ah, but you missed my point. The russians (or anybody else for that matter) does only have the capability to move a small fraction of their armed forces by air. An airborne invasion of the US is a ridicolous idea. It would need to be folowed up by a large fleet or land-based invasion force, and you cant move that number of troops without someone noticing.

A large miltary force attacks another country with no intention of leaving in the near future (because they cant). I would call that a textbook invasion.

If it was a pre-emptive strike, then the russians should have been fearing a US attack, and trying to prevent it by striking first. But what we have seen just appears to be random raids.

But then we are back to the question: What on earth could the russians hope to achieve with this stunt? How could it be anything but suicide for an armed force to parachute down in the middle of the US with no way to retreat?

It would make far more sense for the russians to invade Alaska.

I can see why it is banned, but at the same time, know that it is just a game.

When I was placed in a hospital and they start mowing people down, I was like "WTF? I am just walking around mowing down innocent people?" I have never heard of something like that in a game. My stomach fell to the floor during that mission.

Infinity Ward seems to rush their Single Player for cinematics and "prettiness". I'm sorry, but if they find 1 American dead after a 4 man raid on a Russian Airport, I don't think within 24 hours we will be at war.

Remember, Iraq was "Weapons of Mass Destruction", not "Iraq Attacked World Trade Center". Just so happens it took place the day after 9/11. <_<

Single Player was fun, but stupid and unbelievable to say the least. Infinity Ward should've known Russia would've taken offense to it.. yada yada yada

I know this is rather offtopic, but people keep saying that the russian invasion where all of a sudden the US gets taken over by russians is a bit far fetched and im not saying i dont agree with them but surely its the sort of things other countries plan for and work around if the time ever did come when it was needed.

Sure it is. I bet the US has all these plans to invade Moscow.

I bet we have plans to invade Australia. Mostly brigades from the coastline to surf in, but its still a plan.

The story doesnt go into detail about how many soldiers there were. We know there was an attack on both costs, which we only cover the east in the game. It leaves a lot of room for the imagination.

My stomach also hit the floor Patton. I couldn't believe they would have something like that in Call of Duty. Sure it's a game, but that still doesn't change the fact it's imitating shooting innocent civilians traveling.

When I saw that I thought more people would be outraged but I guess not. Now imagine if that happened in the U.S. and IW put children there.

Anyway, the story is way to unbelievable to be fun. I must say Spec Ops and the MP make up for it. I changed my mind about getting the game when I played at a friends house on the 360 (I'm getting it for PC of course) so I hate the game less but I still think IW is pushing it.

Stupid console lovers.
