It's not just the fact that it's "some terrorist shooting civilians." It's about the presentation.

It's brutal and very in your face. In GTA you can shoot civlians but they do not react the way the people in this clip are reacting. They don't try to crawl away to save their life or attempt to help a loved one. Even the way the character moves is very deliberate in this clip. It's calm, slow. GTA is usually all about running around gunning things down.

I'd say on the scale of "messed up" this is by far much more messed up than what was seen in most other games.

Agreed, but I see other points on this thread also. I guess it made me feel sick seeing this b/c it did seem real and it also reminded me of school shootings. That's why I wondered if the media would have a problem with this b/c it also had the feel of some of the school shootings that have happened. It definitely felt more 'real' in this than GTA b/c of what Zips said that the movements are slow and deliberate, the people are trying to save their lives, they're not even facing you...

But, to counter some GTA points, some people scream, and yes, killing women is bad (but there are women in this MW2 clip also ), but in GTAIV, a lot of citizens will fight you back. Heck, I took a car one time, and the guy hunted me down after like 4 or 5 blocks and almost beat me up lol.

GTA isn't trying to be gritty and realistic. MW2 on the other hand...

I think Chris touched on a very good point, but I think we can all agree the public perception is going to be very negative of this. They could have just done it in a cut-scence and had your character killing them, not actually giving you the option to etc.

Also, It did not look like you actually had to shoot many of them? I assume you could just run through.

Funny if they had some kind of an achievement to track how many people actually gunned down the civis and then when everyone starts complaining to the press, "look, they had the choice to kill or not, but this is how many choose to shoot."

This is going to blow up in their face, unless it's just a publicity stunt to drum up even more attention to the game and they never intended to release this part of the game to begin with.

I realize this was in the game but i didn't think you would be the one doing the shooting. I mean the announcement trailer is clearly russians in an elevator going to shoot-up a airport. If you didnt get this from the trailer then your analytical skills suck.
However, if I actually imagine doing the shooting theres no joy, your shooting unarmed AI. Whats the point?

That would be me trying for a better score each time.
Knowing its a game and just that would not prevent me from shooting "civilians" in a game.

In real life however I know I never would nor could and I'm happy with that.
Still the thought of an achievment that tracks how many you gun down gave me a giggle.

I suppose this is like the coup level in cod4? just like an intro level, you get to see and feel the horrible things makrov does. and then afterwards your pissed and get to save the world and raise the american flag in the russians face once again

Also on another note , No one is forcing you to play this game. last time i check i live in free Country.... i didnt know the new President already Enforce Socialism USA...... Anyways i know that part might seem sick.. but its just game. If the news gets butt hurt over this im going to shock and surpised.

I think the player's an undercover CIA agent.

I have no problem with this mission It's a plot event in a video game, why shouldn't we play it? It makes the scene much more powerful to be actually playing the event than just watching a cutscene.

Been on metacafe and youtube, but keeps getting pulled because its from a early leaked version of the game like the French version

What's up with these French early 'leaked' xbox games? I know Halo ODST was leaked early and now this video of some dude playing MW2, you can even see his picture in the reflection of the TV - really smart move hah.

The full context of the gameplay scene is disturbing but there's a twist to it at the end which will be completely lost by the media playing a short clip of civilians getting killed over and over again.

This is garbage and I wont be getting it. I have gotten every single call of duty up till this point.

Strike 1 was the price hike. Strike 2 was the dedicated servers. Strike 3 is making me play as a FREAKING TERRORIST! Seriously screw IW and screw CoD6 MW2. They can keep MW2, any future titles, and shove them where the sun dont shine.
