Reports are coming in today from Reuters that Microsoft were involved in "unsubstantiated talks" to acquire gaming giant, Electronic Arts.
Should this acquisition actually happen, there is no telling just what may happen to some of your favorite game series. As you already know, EA owns the publishing rights to the Battlefield series, Medal of Honor, and much, much more.
We'll certainly keep an eye on this one to see how it pans out. If it ends up being nothing more than a rumor, so be it.
Citing information from traders, a Reuters report said there was "unsubstantiated talk" that Microsoft is interested in buying the publisher of the Madden, Medal of Honor and FIFA series.
Shares of EA jumped 97 cents, or 5.24%, to $19.49 on the news, outpacing the Nasdaq, which grew 0.19%.
Although merely a rumor, an acquisition would boost Microsoft's presence in the video game space.
