Microsoft "in Talks" to Acquire EA

Reports are coming in today from Reuters that Microsoft were involved in "unsubstantiated talks" to acquire gaming giant, Electronic Arts.
Citing information from traders, a Reuters report said there was "unsubstantiated talk" that Microsoft is interested in buying the publisher of the Madden, Medal of Honor and FIFA series.

Shares of EA jumped 97 cents, or 5.24%, to $19.49 on the news, outpacing the Nasdaq, which grew 0.19%.

Although merely a rumor, an acquisition would boost Microsoft's presence in the video game space.

Should this acquisition actually happen, there is no telling just what may happen to some of your favorite game series. As you already know, EA owns the publishing rights to the Battlefield series, Medal of Honor, and much, much more.

We'll certainly keep an eye on this one to see how it pans out. If it ends up being nothing more than a rumor, so be it.

idk. PC would prob. still be around just no Mac games. They wouldnt let PC have fewer games. People need a reason not to get a Mac.

too bad most people who game on mac install windows and boot into it via bootcamp anyways. intel macs being able to install windows pretty much killed mac native gaming a while back anyways.

I don't think it will kill PC gaming, have you not noticed you are sitting at something else made by MICROSOFT??? (unless you are a noob mac user :P)

Monopoly is absolutely normal over here in the EU,at least in Germany.

GFWL on all games, then to be charged like on XBox-Live !!!

And we thought it couldn't get worse, lol.

This would be an incredibly tragedy for gaming as a whole, not just PC gaming. No EA games on PS3 or wii or handhelds and **** all support for any PC games that do manage to come out D:

Why do I see it as a closer route for the OS owner, to the games we play :/

Not that it would be good for other formats to loose out, remember I am totally PC blinkered.

I see if not better, extreamly less buggy?
