    Battlefield 2 v1.50 Details

We have some very exciting news from the Battlefield Blog today - Patch 1.50 for Battlefield 2 will be released on Tuesday, September 1. Amazingly, the Euro Forces and Armored Fury booster packs will be included in the patch for free. Here's the official word:

After nearly a year of development and three public beta tests Battlefield 2 v1.50 is ready for release. The update will be released on Tuesday 1st September at 5pm UK, 6pm Europe. Stay tuned for release announcement in the near future!

As part of Update 1.50 we are glad to announce that not only is Highway Tampa now a required install included in the update but Euro Forces (Great Wall, Taraba Quarry and Operation Smoke Screen) and Armored Fury (Midnight Sun, Operation Harvest and Operation Road Rage) is now FREE for all Battlefield 2 players. Including the brand new map, Operation Blue Pearl this brings EIGHT new maps that everyone can play and will be added to ranked Battlefield 2 servers world wide. The Booster Pack content is included in the update and has made the file just over 2Gb in size.

Server providers around the world will have access to the client file so find your closest host for best download speeds. To install Battlefield 2 Update v1.50 you must have Battlefield 2 updated to version 1.41 or Battlefield 2 Complete Collection from EA Store installed. Thank you to all of the EAUK Forums (http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/battlefield-2/) members who have given feedback and requests during the development of this update. The full change log for Update 1.50 is as follows:

...No Expansion added to main BF2 install and free

EDIT. Dammit, forgot my external HDD at home today. Guess I won't be installing BF2 and 1.41 today.

EDIT2. If it took them 1 year and 3 BETAs to develop the BF2 patch, I feel sorry for the BF2142 folks. Err...there is not mention of the no CD thing. and with 1.41 and 1.5 well over 2GB why not just release a full installer since the normal DVD installer doesn't work right in Vista anyways and the game shouldn't need a DVD anymore. On clean installer that I can keep on my external with the my CD keys (pleural).

I am mad as hell that the booster packs are free, sure I'd be happy if I didn't already have them. But I speant money on all of them and now anybody can get them. And I wish theyd fix load times. Ok update, but really? I sound like a whiny 14 year old, but I just don't think the wait was worth it. I wish it added more behind the scenes support for the decent mods out there.

It's about friggin' time. They could've included the Special Forces expansion for free as well (imho). Hardly anyone plays the expansions anyways. And installing Special Forces, screws up the patching process (last I tried anyways)

Hopefully this will bring more people to play the boosters, if only to get away from the endless Karkand servers for a little while. I'll be happy to play the booster maps again with some people that aren't trying to timepad since everyone can finally play them.

                      Good move DICE!

I Only bought Armored Fury cause i was big fan of the Little-bird in DC(1942). But no one ever played, and Road Rage is a great map, hopefully now i can play with people of all skills.

Because EF&AF are original content/free updates converted to "booster packs" because they knew idiots were gonna buy them.

And us dummies that got them off EA Downloader would have to purchase them again.
